Verre Églomisé Corn

Available for pick up only.

From Artist Jen Kindell -

Corn is the logo for my farmer's market - The Mission Community Market. It represents community to me. And when I think of community, I think of the first community I was a part of in San Francisco, Art Explosion Studios. Jennie and I met there about ten years ago. It's a warehouse with hundreds of artists where we both had art studios.

I wanted to make something sparkle for Jenny Lemons' window and potentially someone's kitchen! When brainstorming what to make, I thought of my friend Cat Kaley McCarroll, another friend from Art Explosion, who makes glittery gilded glass pieces. For a couple of months, we worked on the weekends on this glass gem corn and a limited edition of gilded screenprints.

We made this unique piece in the verre églomisé technique. It's reverse painting on glass combined with leaf gilding to give a mirroring effect. The practice dates back to the 15th century. I hope this corn piece will bring joy and remind folks of community & the beautiful bounty of foods like corn we enjoy this season!
