Online Workshop 5/25: Georgia O'Keeffe Inspired Gouache Class

This online workshop takes place on Wednesday, May 25th, from 5 PM - 7 PM PT via Zoom Meeting. You will receive login instructions before the workshop.

In this workshop, we will explore painting with gouache - a medium that marries the fluid dreaminess of watercolor with the opaque, buildable coverage of acrylics.

May is Flower Month here at Jenny Lemons, so we will be looking at the iconic work of Georgia O’Keeffe and drawing inspiration from one of her most famous floral paintings, White Flower No. 1.

By the end of class, you'll have mastered the basics of this glorious medium, from what brushes to use, to mixing, blending, and layering, and have created a piece fit for this year’s wildflower super-bloom.

Choose from two booking options:

1. Supply Your Own Materials

2. Purchase A Supply Kit.  Register by May 17th to receive your kit in time for class. Any Later, please choose priority shipping at checkout!

Kit Includes:

  • Set of 12 gouache tubes
  • Set of brushes
  • 5.5" x 8.5" pad of watercolor paper

About the instructor:

Emma Munger is an illustrator living in Joshua Tree, CA. Coming from a family of artists and teachers, Emma grew up with love for sharing her interest in drawing with others. She graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Narrative Illustration in 2012. After school, Emma worked for 7 years at a comic book store in San Francisco where she would gladly discuss the line weight of speedball dip pens and ink washes of different cartoonists before helping a customer find the latest Batman issue. Now in the remote high desert, she is so happy and passionate about finally having the time to share her love for sketching, pencils, fancy erasers, and all things drafting with others in depth.
