Online Workshop 10/10: Hand Crochet a Rope Basket

Learn how to create your own storage basket with soft cotton rope and optional leather handles. No crochet experience is required, as you will learn to make the stitches with your hands rather than a crochet hook. First, you will learn to make a round bottom and then build the basket's sides with a different stitch. Finish with a basket approximately 10 inches wide and 8 inches tall.

In this class, you will also learn how to adjust the pattern's size and shape to make a wider, shallow basket.

Choose from two booking options:

1. Supply your own materials! For this class, you will need: 40 yards cotton piping cord in ½-inch width (or similar rope or sturdy yarn), 2 leather straps for handles 13 inches long ¾-inch wide (optional), 4 Chicago screws in ¼-inch length (if adding handles), scissors, a screwdriver to tighten screws

2. Purchase a basket kit from us that includes:

  • 40 yards of soft cotton rope
  • Leather handles
  • Chicago screws to attach handles
  • Rope patch
  • Printed instructions

You will also need scissors, clear tape, and a Philips head screwdriver to tighten the screws.
