Online Workshop 2/16: Abstract Candle Holder with Air-Dry Clay

Learn to sculpt abstract candle holders that will be a statement piece for any dining room table!

In this workshop, we will let loose and explore organic forms through air-dry clay. Participants will start with sketches to think about the negative space and the function of their candle holders. As a group, we will learn sculpting techniques, coil building, and decoration to make unusual and unique candlestick holders.

Each student will leave the class with a sculptural candle holder that can be used to light your home in style. Due to the nature of air-dry clay, the clay needs time to dry before decoration. Therefore your instructor will demonstrate the painting technique and provide you with a takeaway handout to support you after the class.

Choose from two booking options:

1. Supply your own materials! You will need a 5lb block of air-dry clay, a wire tool (something to cut your clay with), 1-3 candlesticks, and acrylic paint for decorating your piece (optional) for this workshop.

2. Purchase a clay kit from us that includes:

  • 5lb block of air-dry clay
  • a wire tool
  • 3 candlesticks
  • acrylic Paint Set (optional, choose the option at checkout)

You will also need some scratch paper, a pencil to draw out ideas, a container for water, and a towel to keep your hands clean.

This online workshop takes place on Tuesday, February 16th, 5 PM - 7 PM PST via Zoom Meeting. You will receive login directions before the workshop.
