Elsa’s Rainbows is a kid-run business, started by Elsa (age 9) and with help from her siblings: Emmet (age 6) & Cleo (newborn). It began as a simple project to use leftover yarn from their mom’s knitting and weaving projects during the COVID-19 shelter in place. Originally, the kids wanted to gift them to essential workers, but after their mother posted an image on Instagram, they received overwhelming requests for rainbows from family and friends. The kids decided to sell the rainbows and donate proceeds to local charities and non-profit organizations in need of support. Since then, Elsa and her siblings (with a little help from their mom) have crafted hundreds of rainbows and raised thousands of dollars, supporting organizations such as the Alameda County Community Food Bank, Trevor Project, Black Lives Matter, NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
